What I would do differently next time is add a little less five spice (just personal preference)

With the seasoning- add some sugar and chili powder!!! It’s SO addicting- the sugar adds a nice balance while the chili powder adds a little kick:)

yes to both, but the dusting after frying is what is classic as the heat of the oil mutes the flavors a bit

Could I also use sweet potato flour?

hi grace, you can definitely do that but just potato starch doesn’t brown as well, so it will have a more pale coating. it will be crispy!

I don’t have any corn starch. And if I do substitute it, will it taste any different?

hi leah,
i haven’t tried so i can’t vouch, but i heard you can fry herbs. i would do it after the chicken in a separate batch, only for a minute or so. you probably need to rub it with a little oil too.
